This thread is here so you can share your successful campaigns with us and ask for advice, if needed. I'll start out by telling about my campaing where Meng Huo ruled China.
That campaign was so fun! I recommend everybody to play with Meng Huo. He can be very fun if you know how to balance domestic and military matters at the beginning.
So, Meng Huo was excited at the chance of fighting Shu. He waited for it for quite a long time, and this rebellion was quite the opportunity for him. He gathered together his best soldiers and declared war on Shu.
He started off at Yun Nan and Jian Ning, from where he would attack Shu's Cheng Du. After some heavy and painful development in both cities, he concentrated his forces on Jian Ning, the border city and waited for Shu to attack. After defending Jian Ning for two years, his newly acquired (and most praised general) strategist Jiang Wei told him to march on Jiang Zhou to attack Cheng Du in two fronts. He did just like that, and honoring his alliance to Wei and Wu, he started moving east to decimate Shu.
After a while, Shu was almost entirely into Meng Huo's army and Jiang Xia was their last bastion of defense. A fierce three-way attack from Meng Huo's Jiang Ling, Cao Pi's Xin Ye and Sun Quan's Lu Jiang eliminated Shu once and for all. Meng Huo knew that he had to secure position and decide which one of the remaining empires he would keep allied with. He decided upon Cao Pi, and after a quick development of the border cities he annuled his alliance with Sun Quan. After successful campaigns south and a wonderful use of Ma Chao and Guan Suo, they pushed their way to Hui Ji, decimating Sun Quan and incorporating most of his forces into Nanman's Army.
By that time, many casualties had happened. Wu Tugu has been assassinated by Zhou Yu (Zhou Yu's fire + Inferno Ball vs. Aegis = OMG THIS HURTS!!), thus Meng Huo lost of his greatest officers. His former strategist, King Duosi, died of illness and E Huan, Mang Yachang and Mulu Duosi followed soon. Lastly, his wife Zhu Rong succumbed to Gan Ning at the campaign against Chang Sha.
He felt like moving north. Being only him and Cao Pi left, he risked it all in and all-or-nothing gamble and succeeded. Securing the keypoints of Han Zhong, Shou Chun and Xu Chang, he attacked on three fronts and pushed Wei north. But by the time he got to Nan Pi, he died. He forgot everything about family and passed the power to Jiang Wei, still a great general within his ranks, biggest responsible for the fall of Luo Yang, confusing lots of units in the way and enabling their army to go past Hu Lao Gate and to get to Luo Yang first, opening the way to Chang An's army to attack by taking Han Gu and Tong Gates. Not strategist anymore (title went to Lu Xun), he deserved more than nobody the power mainly because he was the first one to voluntarily join Meng Huo after being captured (yes, this actually happened. His loyalty was around 75 by the time). With the command of Jiang Wei, some resigned and abandoned the army, but they was convinced to go back after some months. With all the momentum, Jiang Wei's forces decimated Cao Rui's and unified China.
